Hanging & Shop Window Displays — OEM Factory Sourcing Guide

Hanging window displays are the highest-impact screen in a retail storefront — and the most commonly under-specified. Direct sunlight, heat build-up behind glass and double-sided viewing demand panel and thermal choices that ordinary indoor signage cannot survive. This guide covers what to specify when sourcing hanging or shop window displays from an OEM factory.

What a window display must survive

Shop windows concentrate solar load: behind-glass temperatures routinely exceed 50 °C in Gulf, Mediterranean and Latin American retail streets, and the screen faces the sun head-on. A standard 250–350 nit indoor panel washes out completely in that exposure. Specify:

Brightness700–2500 nits (shaded street) / 2500–5000 nits (direct sun)Sunlight readability; auto-dimming extends panel life at night
Panel gradeIndustrial wide-temperature LCD, −20 °C to 60 °CConsumer panels degrade under sustained heat and high backlight drive
Optical bondingWacker-type OCA bonding as standardCuts reflection, removes condensation, improves contrast at high brightness

Single-sided vs double-sided hanging displays

Single-sided units face the street. Double-sided units show content to street traffic and to shoppers inside the store simultaneously — two panels back-to-back in one slim chassis. For OEM buyers we build both on the same platform, in sizes from 32″ to 86″, with synchronized or independent playback per face.

Frequently Asked Questions

How bright does a shop window display need to be?

700–1500 nits handles shaded streets; storefronts facing direct sun need 2500 nits minimum, and 5000-nit units are specified for full sun exposure in Gulf and equatorial markets. Auto-dimming keeps the display comfortable at night.

Can I order double-sided hanging displays with different content on each face?

Yes. Both faces share one chassis; playback can be synchronized or fully independent per side, controlled from the same cloud CMS.

What is the MOQ and lead time for OEM window displays?

pilot MOQ confirmed by model and configuration for prototypes; volume production runs 15–30 days. OEM quotations are returned within 12 hours.
